Final Notes
I ordered the PCBs through JLCPCB
Its pretty hard to solder these 1x1mm RGB Leds even with solder paste and stencil. After soldering I have to test each color output and nearly 50% of the boards have at least an led with an unconnected pad. I have to manually fix it. In my next revision I will search for better options.
These boards work just like any other LCD module you would find on ebay, with the added bonus of an rgb backlight.
Tests
People on /r/arduino subreddit asked me to test if its possible for the display to become a full RGB POV LCD. Its a bit choppy but here are the results.
